Wide Awake

Wide Awake • 1992-1997

Wide Awake was the culmination of lessons learned on tour, in the studio and in our own personal relationships with one another. It was a new band with familiar faces who shared a history together. We focused on our collective strengths and tried putting our selfish needs aside. The music reflected this formula, and soon we created a new sound, different from anything we had ever produced. Most importantly, it crossed over the genres of pop, rock, jam and funk, paving the way for a whole new audience.

With two releases selling rapidly in stores and playing shows to sell-out crowds, We were at the top of our game. Now in our late twenties and early thirties, we were cultivating young enthusiastic college kids who knew nothing of our past and were willing to go wherever we would take them. Our music was accepted by fans and critics alike and we were awarded the title of best Long Island band two years in a row by GoodTimes Magazine and WBAB Long Island radio.

The achievements made in our short lifespan proves to me that with proper promotion and finacial backing, Wide Awake could have been a force to be reckoned with in the industry. Today the two albums full of raw energy and unsurpassed material still hold up, and the memories I have continue to raise the hairs on the back of my neck.
